Donald Wochna
After three tours of duty in Vietnam and six years of service in the United States Navy, I obtained bachelor degrees in political science & criminal justice from California State University Long Beach. In 1983 my wife and I graduated from the University of Chicago where I obtained my Juris Doctorate and Lydia earned her Master of Social Services Administration. We then returned to Cleveland, Ohio where I began my practice with Thompson Hine, later became a partner with Baker & Hostetler, and thereafter formed the first digital investigation firm in Ohio. I sold that firm to my non-lawyer business partners, and am now one of a handful of attorneys who are certified computer and mobile device forensic examiners and expert witnesses. Through my affiliation with Digital Safety Group LLC, I extract evidence from electronic devices and help people use that evidence to respond to legal challenges and/or regain their privacy and security in a confrontational or non-confrontational way.
I frequently work with a client's attorney(s) and help the attorneys understand the significance and the strategic import of data resident upon electronic devices. Where a confrontational solution is needed, I am engaged as a testifying expert witness; where a non-confrontational solution is desired, I configure the client's electronic environment to isolate the harms/harassment/threats that are causing the client's issues.
I work through fixed fee engagements so that clients are never surprised by the cost; and are always informed about the deliverable that I will provide throughout various stages of the matter. Examples can be examined at https://digitalsafetygroup.com/

Rates, Retainers and Additional Information
I have been practicing law in my specialized area long enough to be able to offer phased, fixed-fee engagements. A matter is discussed, broken down into phases (each with a defined deliverable), and my fee is earned only when a client authorizes me to begin the next phase. This eliminates the anxiety of an hourly rate, allows me to speak with my client without fear of the time being committed to a matter that must be billed, and avoids the issues that can destroy a client relationship when the final fee is calculated in a traditional, hourly rate, engagement. An example of my phased, fix fee model can be reviewed at: www.digitalsafetygroup.com

- Activities: As one of only a handful of attorneys in the United States to also be certified as a computer and mobile device forensic examiner, I educated other forensic examiners and attorneys about the challenges to effectively integrate forensic expert analysis into legal matters related to family law, investigations, privacy, and litigation. I have created a series of services at Digital Safety Group LLC (www.digitalsafetygroup.com) that help clients regain their privacy and safely use electonic devices
