Biography

D. Austin Hare is a California-licensed attorney specializing in business litigation, employment law, and civil rights. Mr. Hare's litigation expertise also includes insurance, product liability, securities, and international human rights. Both in federal and state court throughout California, Mr. Hare has represented a variety of businesses—ranging from multinational corporations to small local businesses—as well as individual clients. Mr. Hare has also regularly counseled clients on compliance with employment laws as well as best corporate practices for ensuring information privacy and protection. Mr. Hare's pro bono matters have included federal immigration, federal death penalty, and local school expulsion cases. He was named on Super Lawyers magazine's Rising Stars list for 2011 through 2013, 2017, and 2018.

Prior to his current practice, Mr. Hare practiced business litigation and handled employment matters with the labor and employment firm Littler Mendelson, the litigation boutique firm Nassiri & Jung, and the global law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Prior to his work as a litigator, he served as a judicial law clerk with the U.S. District Court in San Diego.

Mr. Hare also works part time as a consultant on international legal and diplomatic affairs, most recently with the Rome-based International Development Law Organization (IDLO). Before practicing as a lawyer, he worked as a policy analyst in international law and affairs, holding positions with the United Nations Foundation in New York and Washington, D.C., and with various international organizations, including the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mr. Hare earned a law degree from Harvard Law School, a Master in Public Affairs from Princeton University, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Stanford University. His professional working languages are English, French, and Spanish. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Oakes Children's Center in San Francisco.
