Carlos A Gabuardi
Dr. Carlos A. Gabuardi, Lic. Jur., LL.M., Ph.D., is a practicing lawyer and founder of Gabuardi Abogados, a Professor of Law and Honorary Legal Researcher at Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey. He holds a License in Jurisprudence from the Universidad de Monterrey; a Master of Laws, with distinction, and a Doctorate of Laws (Ph.D.) both from Tulane University. Doctor Gabuardi has published law books and several articles in Law Reviews and Journals in Mexico and abroad. He is currently a Distinguished Legal Researcher at Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey and was a member of the National Researches System of Mexico.
Dr. Gabuardi’s law practice focuses on Corporate Law, Contracts, Business Transactions, International Family Law, and International and Domestic Litigation, including commercial arbitration. He frequently provides opinions, testimonies and Affidavits on Mexican Law before foreign courts, on matters related to Conflicts of Laws, Family Law, the legal framework of goods and assets during marriage, the legal framework of doing business in Mexico, Jurisdiction of Mexican Courts and Enforcement of Foreign Judgements, as well as on Forum Non-Conveniens. He is a certified arbitrator of the Center of Mediation and Arbitration of the State of Nuevo León.
Dr. Gabuardi was a lawyer in the Legal Department of the World Bank (Washington, D.C.) where he was in charge of the Bank’s portfolio for various countries in Latin America and the Caribbean and Corporate Legal Manager and Assistant Secretary of Grupo Gamesa (currently Pepsico), where he acted as in-house legal counsel for that Industrial Group. In December 2004, he was part of the team that organized the first training for Judges in the Americas on The Hague Convention on International Child Abduction.
He has taught courses on Comparative Law, Comparative Law: Mexico – US, Private International Law, Public International Law and International Business Transactions, and Commercial arbitration.
