Brian has extensive experience advising clients on the structuring and execution of China-related and other cross-border investment transactions, corporaterestructuringsand general corporate matters. Brian's practice incorporates a broad range of industries including life sciences, technology, media, publishing, real estate and manufacturing. Representative transactions illustrating Brian's experience advising global leaders include: $50 million financing of a China-based pharmaceutical distribution and marketing company $35 million financing of a China-based chemistry research outsourcing business $100 million joint venture between a NASDAQ-listed US biotechnology company and a China-based pharmaceutical product manufacturer $40 million financing and follow-on financing of a distributor of European soccer content through cable television networks in China Pre-IPO investment in a Taiwan-based electronics component manufacturer $40 million financing of a leading digital mobile television network operator in China Acquisition of a China-based information technology consulting company as part of a $600 million global transaction $22.5 million financing of a China-based television broadcast software development company by consortium of financial and strategic investors $22 million financing of China’s premier lighting products manufacturer Restructuring of Fortune 500 company's China operations and the buyout of its Chinese partners in various joint ventures Establishment and management by European media conglomerate of newspaper publishing joint ventures in Brazil, Russia, India, Korea, Jordan, Ecuador and Guatemala Establishment of a corporate philanthropy program by NASDAQ-listed Chinese company An experienced international attorney, Brian spent four years in the Hong Kong offices of two major international law firms prior to joining Ropes Gray in 2008.
