Biography

Most people who meet attorney Ben Glass come to know him as a father of nine children, four of them adopted from China, a small business advocate, a non-profit and charity supporter, and a soccer referee - in addition to being one of the top-reviewed attorneys in the area (see him on Avvo and Google).

Born and raised in Annandale, Ben has spent his career practicing law in the courtrooms throughout Virginia and beyond. A recognized expert among his peers, lawyers travel from around the country to be trained by Ben and his team in the Ben Glass Center for Growth and Innovation.

Ben has been profiled at WorldClassPerformer.com and is a nationally recognized business and life coach who has been featured on numerous podcasts because of his "Live Life Big," brand.

Ben served on the Board of Directors for over a decade and is a long time supporter of Love Without Boundaries, an international charity that provides hope and healing to orphaned and vulnerable children, and their underserved communities, through its education, nutrition, medical, and foster care programs. Ben also coaches members of the Love Without Boundaries leadership team.

When Ben isn't busy helping the clients of BenGlassLaw, he is often refereeing youth and high school soccer games , a practice that dates back to his time at Thomas Jefferson High School and his days playing soccer on scholarship at William and Mary. Currently he serves on the editorial board of Referee Magazine.

Of course, Ben has an "origin story" as an attorney as well...
Benjamin W. Glass, III is a 1983 graduate of the George Mason University School of Law (after attending William and Mary for undergraduate work). Since that time he has practiced exclusively in the areas of personal injury and ERISA long-term disability and life insurance claims.

3 Questions Answered
Q. If a Lawyer does a terrible job, and I appeal and win, do I have to pay that lawyer full fees or can I arrange something
A: It sounds like you had a personal injury case and hired a personal injury law firm that was probably charging you on a contingent fee basis. You won the case but were disappointed with the award. The award can be based on a number of issues, so its impossible to judge, from the award, whether the firm performed poorly or not. (You mention the firm, they are a reputable Virginia personal injury firm.).. The answer to your question really lies in the contract you signed but, under usual circumstances yes, you will owe them their fee at least for the amount they got the court to award you at trial. If you can secure a higher settlement you probably don't owe them 1/3 for the extra you receive. Hope this makes sense. good luck to you. ... Read More
Q. Can I ask the insurance co to settle myself without a lawyer? Also do I have to fill out interrogatories with no lawyer?
A: You have the right to represent yourself. The fact that you have not been able to find an attorney has nothing to do with their "bravery" but may be an indication that your case is weak. You can try to negotiate the case yourself, sure.
Q. Can I have an out of state attorney for a car accident?
A: yes, sure, you should get right attorney for your case, no matter where you live. If you find an attorney not licensed in VA that attorney may need to associate with VA counsel, but you have the right to look anywhere.
