Biography

During her studies at the University of Maryland School of Law, Ms. Zuerlein obtained extensive hands on experience in both civil litigation and alternative conflict resolution. In 2005, Ms. Zuerlein interned for the Maryland Court of Appeals for Judge Clayton Greene, Jr. From 2006 through 2007, Ms. Zuerlein worked for the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) in Washington, D.C., conducting state-compliance reviews for adherence with federal civil rights laws. While at the University of Maryland, Ms. Zuerlein obtained her mediation certification, assisting in the resolution of numerous district court cases and counseling high school students to assist in the resolution of student conflicts. Ms. Zuerlein continued to utilize the skills and experience obtained both as a mediator and in the practice of employment law, serving as a volunteer mediator for the Maryland Commission on Human Relations. Ms. Zuerlein subsequently practiced in Chicago, Illinois, with Barlow, Kobata & Denis, and later Elaine K.B. Siegel & Associates, focusing on education, labor and employment law matters. In 2011, Ms. Zuerlein returned to Arizona serving as an Assistant Attorney General with the State of Arizona, where she litigated civil, constitutional, and class action lawsuits. During her career, Ms. Zuerlein has successfully settled and/or tried scores of employment claims and civil rights actions. She has participated in numerous arbitrations and mediations, as well as many bench and jury trials. Ms. Zuerlein is well respected by her peers for her level headed strategy and professionalism.
