- Q. By law is the estate of my deceased father split 50/50 if sold or the wife can buy me out
- A: I am not an attorney in GA but more info is needed to answer this question. State law governs the estate of a deceased person. The type of information needed to answer this question would be, was there a will/trust left behind, what does the will/trust say, and who are all the heirs and interested persons in the situation. The statute would then govern who has rights to your fathers property.
- Q. My husband has a life estate in the house we are living in. We recently married. If he dies what rights do I have?
- A: A life estate means he has rights during his lifetime. If he were to pass away, you don't have a life estate too. You may want to get a written agreement with the home owner, like an option to enter into a lease agreement if your husband dies.
- Q. can a credit card company put a lien on my house?
- A: Generally a lien may be placed on property when there has been a judgement, it is allowed by statute, or as allowed by a contract your signed.
