- ESPN Inc. Modi Enterprises, et al v. ESPN Inc., et al. Successfully represented ESPN in a $231 million lawsuit brought by Modi Entertainment Network (MEN), an Indian conglomerate involved in the cable business. The jury rendered a complete defense verdict for ESPN in a case in which MEN asserted claims for breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition and breach of fiduciary duty. ESPN also won $1.8 million on its counterclaim based on MEN’s failure to make payments during the last four months of the parties’ contract. more

- WorldCom Inc. In re WorldCom, Inc. (Embratel Sale Hearing) WGM successfully represented WorldCom Inc. (formerly MCI) within the WorldCom bankruptcy regarding the sale of Embratel, the Brazilian long distance concessionaire to Telmex, the Mexican telephone company. Since WorldCom had made a motion for sale approval while it was still in chapter 11, MCI had to get the Court’s approval for this sale. This representation involved multiple WGM practice groups. In the end, the court, ruled in favor of the sale. more
