Biography

I am a shareholder in the law firm of Leisawitz Heller. I am the only certified elder law attorney practicing in Berks County. I am a graduate of Bucknell University and hold a J.D. degree from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law and an LL.M in tax law from the Villanova University School of Law.
My practice is limited to trust and estate matters, including elder law, estate administration, estate planning, asset protection planning, long-term care planning, guardianships, special needs planning and fiduciary litigation.
I currently serve as a trustee of the Berks Community Trust which is a pooled supplemental needs trust for individuals with disabilities. I am also on the board of directors for Easterseals of Eastern Pennsylvania. I am the past president of the Berks County Estate Planning Council and currently chair the estate planning and elder law section of the Berks County Bar Association.
I am a frequent lecturer on estate planning and elder law matters and regularly provide talks for Berks Encore on subjects like understanding powers of attorney, asset protection planning for long-term care and how to serve as an agent under power of attorney for an aging parent.
I strive to help my clients age with dignity and financial security. I work to help them understand the many programs and legal issues that impact them as they age. It is a holistic approach to the practice of law that I hope puts clients at ease and helps them avoid many of the mistakes that derail people's plans and tear families apart.

Fees
  • Credit Cards Accepted
  • Contingent Fees
Contingent fees are generally only used in fiduciary litigation cases like will contests.
  • Rates, Retainers and Additional Information
The bulk of my work is done using flat fees, although some matters are billed on an hourly basis. Flat fees provide clients with certainty as to cost and encourage efficiency and prompt resolutions by attorneys. They also help promote communication with clients who otherwise limit communication because of concern about increasing project costs.
