An excellent lawyer Although most of us never desire to need a lawyer, from time to time in our lives, it becomes necessary. Over the last year, I've needed a lawyer for two different situations that I faced in my life. Luke handled both cases for me. He is extremely competent and professional and also kept me up-to-date on any developments in my cases. He responds to emails and phone calls promptly. Pretrial Negotiation “bargain” is a scam The Knoxville Bar Association referred me to him. When I called for a second referral because it took three days for him to respond I made the mistake of following their advice and giving him a chance. Especially since he promised to obtain a pretrial settlement that included recovery of his fees based on the fact that he knew opposing counsel. Not only did he fail to resolve the nuisance and failed to obtain the promised settlement, he failed to communicate his actions and took weeks to answer my questions about the legal definitions and issues central to this matter. (I wonder if his negotiations would have been more successful if he could have answered these legal questions sooner) His response when I communicated my dissatisfaction was to ask that I release him from his obligation to represent my interests for the exorbitant flat fee that he charged. He claimed that no one had ever been this dissatisfied with him before loosing a lawsuit before- as if a lawsuit were a foregone conclusion in this matter Even though he failed to deliver the promised a pretrial settlement, he expected to be retained to take the matter to court. The matter is still pending. Since he did not deliver what he promised pretrial even though he has the law on his side and evidence, I never trust him to be effective in court. View More

Outstanding Advocate! Knoxville Bar Association referred me to Luke Durham when I was served with a detainer warrant on property that was under (an informal) sale contract to my mother. Heirs of the property owner refused to sell as previously agreed upon and chose to evict me. Luke was willing to take the case last minute, much to my relief. I was very impressed with his credentials. His confidence negated my anxiety. Luke arrived promptly on our court date, while we spent 20-30 minutes awaiting the arrival of the plaintiff's attorney.
