Lilia Alcaraz is a tough, smart lawyer. I've seen her win trials that everyone else (including me) thought were hopeless. I've seen her argue cases so thoroughly and brilliantly that the other side doesn't even realize how badly they've lost -- or somehow, that they lost at all -- for at least a day or two after the gavel came down. I've seen her calmly talk us past machine gun-toting commandos at a US embassy to get an emergency appointment with the consul. During a lockdown.
