John was raised in Clear Lake City and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1983. Today, he maintains his law office just minutes away in Clear Lake Shores. John is a proud UT graduate. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987 and went on to earn his Juris Doctor law degree from the UT Austin School of Law in 1990, an institution consistently ranked among the top 20 law schools in the country and arguably the best law school in Texas. While in law school, John was honored to be named as Co-Captain of the 1990 Legal Eagles intramural football team. These days he keeps in shape through CrossFit and enjoys playing golf whenever his schedule allows.

In his League City criminal law practice, John practices both adult criminal defense and juvenile law. He was a member of the inaugural class of attorneys board-certified in Juvenile Law in 2001 and for many years served as a speaker at the annual Texas Juvenile Law Conference held in Houston. John is admitted to practice law in all Texas state courts as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

John is a member of the Texas State Bar, the Galveston Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association.
