- Prior to joining Ropes Gray, John was a staff attorney in the Mergers I division of the Bureau of Competition at the Federal Trade Commission where he investigated transactions for possible violations of antitrust laws. While with the F.T.C., John conducted all aspects of merger investigations, including drafting and negotiating modifications to Second Requests, subpoenas and consent decrees, conducting depositions, interviewing market participants, and drafting recommendation memoranda to Bureau Management. John investigated and challenged several potentially anticompetitive transactions in the pharmaceutical, medical devices, industrial, and defense and aerospace industries.
