- From 1994 to 1996, Joel was the Vice President, General Counsel of Dial Call, a public wireless mobile telecommunications service provider. At Dial Call, Joel was responsible for developing and implementing their legal and regulatory strategy and participated as a member of the senior management team in building the company's business. Through this experience, he learned first hand the business priorities of operating companies from the client side of the client/outside counsel relationship. Following Dial Call's acquisition by Nextel in 1996, Joel returned to Ropes Gray.
