Assault charge in Clear Creek County Dismissed Jim, thank you again for your help with my case here in Clear Creek County. Without your expert help I likely could have expected a different outcome. As you know I give my wife credit for finding you as she did the research on attorneys while I was recovering those first few days. I am so glad she found you and that you had the time and the interest in representing me. Jim scheduled an appointment for me to come in and spent about two hours with me initially to get the details of the case. I was impressed with how thorough he was in getting as much information as he did in that first encounter. The assault charge stemmed from an alteration that would have been better avoided in the first case but that did not happen. Jim asked me many questions about the nature of this unfortunate encounter with a neighbor that I did not know, and I told him as much as I could remember about the situation. He was interested as well in my own history, any previous legal problems, credentials, personal references, and other information that would inform him and others about my character. As he put it, the information would help the legal system see me as a human being and not just another case. I was impressed by his patience as he elicited the details of the case and it took some weeks for me to provide the information he requested including letters of character reference from friends, coworkers, military service records and education records. This allowed him to create a profile for me that showed I was a responsible person, not just some hot head that goes around getting into fights. He kept me informed over the course of the case on a regular basis of any additional evidence that was discovered and always kept me in the loop. During this process he was also able to discuss my case with the district attorney that would prosecute my case. Because of his ability to communicate with that DA on the nature of the situation that occurred he was able to offer a mitigation argument that put me in a much more favorable light. My impression is that he put considerable effort into forming a good rapport with the DA handling the case and it shows in the results. Highly Recommend Jim Stanley Jim Stanley was able to negotiate a very favorable outcome for my case with the Jefferson County District Attorney. The District Attorney agreed to a deferred judgment. This is a very unusual outcome for such a case. I understand that it is unheard-of in Jefferson County for the DA to agree to no probation, no fines and no other conditions at all, except to stay out of trouble for 1 year. Domestic violence assault charged DISMISSED Jim was able to achieve an extraordinary outcome in my case. To convince a prosecutor to completely dismiss a domestic violence assault case in Colorado is rare. He put together a comprehensive and compelling argument for the prosecutor, consisting of 33 pages with attachments. He contacted the main witness in the case and found discrepancies in his account to the police. He repeatedly contacted the prosecutor by phone, mail and email, presenting our case and repeating his arguments to ensure he was heard. He made it clear to the prosecutor that he would take this case to trial if it was not dismissed. Jim has a reputation with prosecutors of not backing down and taking them to trial to fight for his clients, and he put that reputation to work for me in my case. Jim consulted with other also experienced criminal defense attorneys in his office on what tactics to use in this case and brainstorm of how to build the best defense. He brought in a second lawyer just to handle the complaining witness. The accumulation of all the efforts described above produced the best possible outcome to my case...a dismissal. On a more personal note, Jim was somehow able to help me feel at ease during the most stressful time imaginable. His communication skills are off the charts.
