Q. I’m separated. I have no income, Lawyer says I’m eligible for maintenance but no word back from lawyer in months?Normal?

A: I would try contacting your attorney again by phone and by email. If you are not able to get a response in a reasonable amount of time (3 days) let the attorney know that you may have to file a complaint if you don't hear back.

Alternatively, you can try to retain new counsel. If you qualify, there are pro bono or sliding-scale divorce services through most local bar associations. Good Luck.

Q. My sister suffered cardiac arrest 7 years ago and had been in a vegetative state. I wanted to be the guardian.....

A: First, I am so sorry for your loss. If you are not hearing from the guardian, put your requests in writing and write a letter to the court about your inability to contact the guardian about your sister's ashes. If you have access to the original court order appointing the guardian, you will find a listing for a Court Examiner. That person may also be able to help you.
