Biography

A native of Yakima, Greg Lighty graduated from the University of Washington in 1988 with a degree in Mathematics. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in 1991 and has practiced law in Yakima since that time.

In 2016, Greg became a member, by invitation, of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. In 2015 and again in 2016, Greg was awarded “10 Best in Client Satisfaction” by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys. Greg is also a member of The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 as one of the premier attorneys across the country for exemplifying superior qualifications as a civil plaintiff trial lawyer. He is recognized nationally by Martindale-Hubbell with its top mark, an “AV Preeminent” rating, for outstanding legal ability and ethical standards. He is also rated “Superb” by AVVO, an independent online lawyer rating system.

Greg is a member of the Washington State Association for Justice, Washington State Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice. Greg is admitted in all Washington courts: Eastern District of Washington, Western District of Washington, and the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. He has authored legal publications and spoken at attorney conferences, most recently at the 2016 Wildland Fire Litigation Conference in Monterey, California.

Greg is active in the community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Central Washington and is the Chairman of both the City of Yakima Charter Civil Service Commission and the Police and Fire Civil Service Commission. Greg is also an active member of the Downtown Yakima Rotary Club. He is a former board member for The First Tee of Yakima. Greg has coached youth sports, including basketball, golf, baseball, football and soccer for over 15 years. He is currently the boys and girls’ Golf Coach at La Salle High School.
