Dr Michael Bates
Michael is a lawyer and registered patent and trade marks attorney specialising in patent protection. He has a PhD in neuroscience & pharmacology and a deep-seated passion for IT. Michael is the consummate high-tech lawyer & patent attorney. He has industry experience working in human clinical trials & conducting pharmaceutical research in an academic area. He has worked both as a patent attorney and lawyer in patent attorney & corporate law firms. Michael was an expert witness (technology) for the recording industry in its successful copyright infringement action in Australia against the operators of the Kazaa file sharing system (Universal Music v Sharman License Holdings). He has written many published articles on various aspects of patent law, as well as scientific publications & is a regular contributor to many high technology forums.
