- Q. What are the penalties for 17 year olds who are caught drunk driving?
- A: Being arrested is NOT being convicted. The job of an experienced DUI lawyer is to investigate the case, watch and police videos and then assess whether the case can be won at a pretrial motion or trial.
If convicted, however, any driver under age 21 at the time of conviction will suffer a one year loss of license. No work permit is granted. Community service hours, not fewer than 40. If a BAC level of 0.08 or more was captured, at least 24 hours in jail. For every day NOT served in jail, you will be on probation for the remainder of a one year period.
