Mr. Mikel helps clients with regulatory, compliance, transactional. and litigation matters (qui tam/whistleblower/false claims act defense). He has a particular focus on fraud and abuse issues (Stark/Anti-Kickback), telehealth and telemedicine matters, HIPAA and other privacy/security laws (including strategic investigations and disclosures), defending against government investigations and enforcement actions, defending against false claim allegations, and information technology issues.

He served as a 3-term chair of the ABA's eHealth, Privacy, and Security Interest Group and chair of the Stark and Anti-Kickback Law Toolkit for the ABA. He still is active in high-level ABA health law leadership positions.
