Chris Fernandez
Christopher Fernandez is a Registered Patent Attorney who supports the firm’s patent practice in the medical device, life science, and mechanical arts.
Mr. Fernandez earned a J.D. from the University of Miami, cum laude. He earned a M.S. in Bioengineering from Clemson University with a specialization in Orthopaedics. Mr. Fernandez also earned a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami with a specialization in mechanics as well as a specialization in Cardiology.
While in law school, Mr. Fernandez was a member of the Start-Up Clinic where he helped start-ups with legal questions and Intellectual Property matters covering patents and trademarks.
Prior to joining Christopher & Weisberg, Mr. Fernandez was a Biomedical Research Assistant at ImCare Biotech performing cancer studies, and Laboratory Manger at the Laboratory of Orthopaedic Tissue Regeneration at Clemson University.
Mr. Fernandez is an accomplished inventor being awarded US Patent 10,675,381 for his work and research during his time at Clemson University.
Mr. Fernandez is the co-author of “Biomimetic nucleus pulposus scaffold created from bovine caudal intervertebral disc tissue utilizing an optimal decellularization procedure,” J Biomed Mater Res Part A 2016 and “Decellularization and characterization of a whole intervertebral disk xenograft scaffold,” J Biomed Mater Res Part A 2018.
