15 Questions Answered
Q. How much will child support take out my personal injury settlement in Ms
A: The answer is depends. First, how much are you getting in the settlement and how much do you owe in support. Based on the basic law in Mississippi, the DHS will want to recover as much as possible. If the child support lien can be fully satisfied while you still make any recovery, they will request full reimbursement. IF they cannot collect full funds, then they will listen to a reduced amount. If you have an attorney you should speak to them directly and get them working on a possible reduction. The amount and reduction may also be impacted on if the support is actually owed in Mississippi or from another state.
Q. Found a roach on my sandwich from a restaurant. Is this a law suite?
A: The short answer is possibly. In Mississippi, you have to prove damages, how and what are you damages. Did you go to the hospital, do you have some type of injury. While is a horrible event, without damages there is no claim. You need to speak to an attorney who handles such claims to see what your rights are toward this matter.
Q. Where is the law in the State of Mississippi that you have to provide a recorded statement to a claim adjuster ?
A: While it is not required to provide a statement in a work injury claim to a claim adjustor. It usually occurs to help conclude the investigation of the report injury and claim. This is done because often the employer has not reported enough about the claim or the events leading to the injury for the adjuster to make the proper decision as toward acceptance or denial of the claim. You should contact a local attorney who handles workers compensation claims to determine if the statement should be given and what your rights are in such cases.
