: Current; Hurricane Katrina Victims Class Katrina Victims; Diane Ridgley; Judy Sturcken; David Bellinger; and Tamica Dickson, on behalf of themselves and all others similarly situated v. Federal Emergency Management Agency; United States Department of Homeland Security; Michael Chertoff, Secretar Represented a group of low-income individuals displaced from their homes by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in suit against the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other Federal officials; class action lawsuit in Federal court in the Eastern District of Louisiana. Court certified class action and granted a preliminary injunction prohibiting FEMA from terminating people from its rental assistance program.

: Current; Toyobo Incorporated Zeppetella v. Second Chance Body Armor, Inc. GIN034151 (Cal. Super. Ct. (San Diego)) Defended Toyobo in products lawsuit in connection with high-performance fiber Zylon used to manufacture bullet resistent vests. Won dismissal of the punitive damages, negligence and breach of warranty claims, and obtained a hung jury on the product defect claim. On the failure to warn claim, limited Toyobo’s liability to only 10% of damages awarded. Subsequently settled on extremely favorable terms before entry of judgment.

: Current; Cameroonian Asylee Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs/ Cameroonian Asylee Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP secured asylum on behalf of a Cameroonian widow who was abused and persecuted by her late husband's politically powerful tribal family. more

: Current; Republic of Ecuador EnCana Corporation v. The Republic of Ecuador Defended against allegations of breach of the U.S.-Ecuador Bilateral Investment Treaty. Won dismissal of all claims. more

: Current; Toyobo Incorporated Limbacher v. Second Chance Body Armor, Inc. & Toyobo America Inc. Defended first Zylon ballistic vest case to ever be tried; resulted in extremely favorable settlement for Toyobo.

: Current; Toyobo Incorporated Lemmings v. Toyobo Obtained an extremely favorable settlement for Toyobo in the first ballistic vest case to be tried. The lawsuit involved a highly publicized shooting of a police officer who was acting in the line of duty. more
