- Activities: Mr. Head was recently named a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America. He is a member of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association, the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Texas, the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, and the executive committee of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. He is a founding Master of the Eldon B. Mahon Inn of Court and is past president of the Fort Worth chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitational society of experienced litigators.

- Activities: Mr. Head is a member of the board of directors of the SMU Athletic Forum and the Doak Walker National Running Back Award. He is also active in many civic and charitable organizations including the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate. He is a member of the board of directors and is chairman of The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. He is past president of the Fort Worth Opera and past chairman of YMCA Camp Amon G. Carter. He is past president of the SMU Alumni Association and served as ex-officio member of the SMU Board of Trustees. Mr. Head serves on the Executive Board of SMU's Dedman School of Law and chairs the University's Distinguished Law Alumni Award committee. He also is a member of the Executive Board of the SMU-in-Taos campus. In 1999, Mr. Head was appointed to the board of directors of the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation by Governor George W. Bush, was reappointed by Governor Rick Perry in 2001, and currently serves as chairman.
