University of Michigan Law School

The University of Michigan Law School was founded in 1859, and is one of the oldest law schools in the country. Since it's founding, the school has demonstrated its commitment to access and diversity. In 1870, the school became the second American university to confer a law degree to an African American. The next year, in 1871, graduate Sarah Kilgore was the first woman with a law degree in the nation to be admitted to the bar.
