Barnett & Barnett
The Southern California trial lawyers at Barnett & Barnett dedicate their practice to defending people accused of state and federal crimes, and litigating complex civil cases. The law firm handles a variety of criminal defense matters that include violent crimes, sex offenses, drug charges, DUI allegations, domestic violence, and third strike cases. For more than 40 years, Attorney John Barnett has aggressively defended individuals at trial after they were accused of criminal conduct. His son Case Barnett brings more than 8 years of litigation experience to the practice. When the firm's attorneys prepare to defend a client at trial, they remain so focused that they often work nights, weekends, and over holidays to prepare and do everything possible for a client's defense.
John Barnett has successfully defended clients in many high-profile cases. He represented Los Angeles Police Department officer Theodore Briseno in the 1992 Rodney King trial where a California jury found Barnett's client not guilty of using excessive force. The elder Barnett is the recipient of numerous honors and awards recognizing his legal skills. He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Board Member of the Orange County Bar Association, and frequently teaches trial tactics to other attorneys at the Orange County, Riverside County, and Los Angeles County Bar Associations. His trial skills are so well recognized that he has testified as an expert witness for prosecution and defense attorneys about ineffective assistance of counsel defenses and a criminal defense lawyer's responsibilities.
