Avery T. "Sandy" Waterman, Jr., Esq.
Avery T. "Sandy" Waterman, Jr., Esq. is an experienced Virginia personal injury trial and appellate attorney representing clients in cases involving the wrongful death of loved ones, brain injuries, motor vehicle accidents, nursing home abuse and neglect, medical malpractice, and sexual abuse victims. With more than 30 years of legal experience, Mr. Waterman fights hard for the rights of his clients. His record of success before and after trial is so significant, that other lawyers in Virginia refer him cases. He has a track record of obtaining million dollar jury verdicts and settlement awards for clients. The $1.68 million jury verdict he obtained for a client in a Newport News medical malpractice case was one of the largest awards in the entire Commonwealth. A Virginia appeals court subsequently upheld the award. Mr. Waterman's early years as a medical malpractice defense attorney gave him skills and insight into strategies and tactics used by law firms that represent defendants and insurance companies. Attorney Waterman is admitted to practice in all Virginia and Louisiana state and federal courts, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Waterman represents clients on a contingency basis. That means whether he is paid or not depends solely upon whether he recovers compensation for a client. If he is not able to recover, a client will owe him no money for all the time, effort, and resources he put into the case. This gives Sandy an incentive to focus on getting every client the best possible outcome.
Attorney Waterman is a member of the American Association for Justice, Williamsburg Bar Association, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Southern Trial Lawyers Association. His offices are located in Newport News and Williamsburg. He is active in a variety of school, charitable, athletic, and social affairs.
