Walter Koczot

Walter C. Koczot, JD, CTFA - Walt has been in the financial services industry for over twenty-five years, with the past seventeen years focused in the areas of personal trust administration and estate planning. In his role as a Personal Trust Specialist he is responsible for the administration of trusts and for providing clients with estate planning assistance. Trust administration is the day to day operation of a trust keeping it in compliance with the terms of the trust document as well as legal, tax and regulatory requirements. As an estate planner he is a resource to clients who are looking to begin or revisit the estate planning process and need a resource for information and guidance. Walt helps familiarize clients with the basics of estate planning and determine what their particular situation requires. He can then act as a liaison between a client and their attorney to insure that the final documents reflect their wishes.

Walt's educational background includes a BA from the State University of New York College at Fredonia and a J.D. from the Western New England College School of Law. In addition, he is a graduate of the ABA National Graduate Trust School and holds the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation.

Walt joined BB&T Wealth Management in October, 2005 after 20 years at another local financial institution.
