Q. How do you know this lawyer?
  • Current or Former Co-Worker/Colleague

I worked with Sarah at an immigration law firm called Khanh Nguyen Law Offices.

Q. In the cases you were involved in with this attorney, which of the following apply?
  • Same Client

I worked with Sarah at an immigration law firm called Khanh Nguyen Law Offices. I managed the New York branch and Sarah worked in the Minneapolis office. Sarah was originally hired to work on criminal cases that triggered removal for non-citizens, but her work was so stellar that she eventually assigned all complex immigration cases/appeals that were lost at the hands of the firm's other lawyers. Her legal research and writing skills are impeccable and she won most of the case she was assigned.

Q. When did you work with this lawyer?
I worked with Sarah Gad from September of 2020 until she resigned in August of 2021.
Q. Was this lawyer an effective advocate/counselor and why?
Yes

The dedication that Sarah puts into every case in unparalleled.

Q. Please rate this lawyer on the following:

Legal Knowledge: Excellent

Sarah Gad knows state and federal case law like the back of her hand.

Legal Analysis: Excellent

Her legal analysis skills are among her greatest strengths. One of her pivotal accomplishments at KNN Law was appealing case involving a juvenile who was denied special immigrant juvenile status ("SIJS"). The original petition (that was denied) was drafted by Sarah's supervising lawyer. Sarah appealed the denial of the case and the Minnesota Court of Appeals granted the appeal, which set a precedent clarifying age eligibility for custody proceedings proceedings in Minnesota.

Communication Skills: Excellent

She was accessible and responsive to her clients and co-workers alike. She put thought and effort into every communication, and frequently drafted very well-organized memos to relay important information about client cases.

Ethics and Professionalism: Excellent

A testament to this: in 3/21, Sarah was working on a case involving ineffective assistance of immigration counsel, which required her to follow the three prongs outlined in Matter of Lozada. In accordance with Lozada, Sarah drafted a notice letter to our client’s former attorney, but our boss (Khanh) would not let her send it. Sarah was fired for challenging Khanh by insisting he let her apply the law (she was rehired next day), but the overall lack of professionalism at KNN is why she resigned.

Q. For which practice area(s) would you recommend this lawyer?
I would recommend Sarah for all criminal matters and immigration matters involving removal proceedings. I would recommend Sarah for any criminal or immigration matter that requires intensive legal research, writing, analysis, and application. Her writing is exceptionally persuasive and her application of the law is very impressive.
Q. Which of the following skills does this lawyer possess?
  • Appeals
  • Drafting
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Legal Research
  • Legal Writing
  • Problem Solving
  • Pro Bono and Community Services
  • Trials
Q. Please provide any additional comments about this lawyer
What is unique about Sarah is that she refuses to use templates or recycled motions. She starts every motion and pleading from scratch and unless there are remarkable similarities between the cases that require application of the same procedural requirements. I think this is what makes her work so excellent, and why judges and adjudicators respond so favorably to her motions, briefs, and other pleadings.
Q. I would recommend this lawyer to my family and friends
Yes
