The first thing that both opposing counsel and clients perceive, and rightly so, is Ken's open and positive demeanor. Ken's bright disposition allows him the opening to deploy years of legal experience in service to his clients.

Ken's many years as a public defender in Multnomah County provide him with a vast knowledge of the inner workings of the legal system, particularly in the Portland area.

I have seen Ken argue legal points in the courtroom. He does his research, knows his authorities, and prepares well.

I was sitting in court once, when a pro se defendant approached Ken saying, "Can I ask you a question? I trust you because I like your smile." Ken is the kind of person you would meet on the street and think, "That guy is way too nice to be a lawyer." At the same time, I've seen Ken make a spirited, but diplomatic and well-reasoned stand in the courtroom on behalf of a beleaguered client. Those two things don't always coincide in this profession, but they do in Ken Stafford.
