I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Sverdlov on NY Article 81 guardianship cases involving alleged incapacitated persons.

New York Article 81 proceedings differ from most court proceedings, in that there aren't necessarily "opposing" parties. A person is alleged to be incapacitated, and the competing interests present themselves in the court to negotiate the best solution to help the alleged incapacitated person. Those interests include the alleged incapacitated person, family and friends, potential guardians for the person, and the court itself.
