As passionate about his clients as he is about the law I have used and seen multiple lawyers practice over the years, but the only one I would recommend is Derek Haake. From the most basic questions about the legal system to the most complex, he was able to answer my questions and give me valuable advice. More importantly, he takes as much time as he needs to in order to explain things, make sure his clients understand their options, and are as comfortable as possible before moving forward. As cliché as it sounds Derek became a lawyer to help. He will fight for what is right not for what’s easy. He cares about his clients and will put his heart into everything he takes on. I liked that Derek was always approachable and made himself available. He maintained his professionalism, never made me feel like I was bothering him, and made sure I didn’t feel isolated. The last issue Derek handled for me was very personal and very sensitive. He was easy to talk and careful to tread lightly when he had to ask personal questions. He told me he needed to know “the good, the bad, and the ugly” to provide the best representation possible. That is usually hard for me, but Derek made it as comfortable as possible and protected my privacy completely. His ability to blend compassion, sensitivity, discretion, and caring with his knowledge of the legal system is a unique talent and a valuable asset.
