Rating: 10 Lawyer Rating - 10 out of 10
Over several years I worked alongside Amy to receive both my JD and LL.M in taxation. Few, if any, students were as close as we were. I have seen her interact with professors (lawyers) and law students for years, and watched her work for hours and days on end under extreme stress and time constraints. I have seen what Amy puts into her work and her life and what she can handle. I have never known her to be anything other than the person I am striving to be. I have to give that a 10. View More
Q. How do you know this lawyer?
  • Classmate at Law School
  • Friend

I have known Amy for over 20 years. I have probably as many hours one on one with her engaged in topics related to the law as anyone else. She is intelligent, collaborative, funny, and hardworking. She brings out the best in everyone and is the friend you want to have to turn to when everything falls apart. She is both honest and caring to a fault. I would entrust her with anything and everything without reservation. She, like my wife, is simply the best attorney you hope to find.

Q. In the cases you were involved in with this attorney, which of the following apply?
  • Represented Me or My Company

When I have a legal question, Amy is a go to person.

Q. When did you work with this lawyer?
I met Amy in 1997. For four years, from 1997 through 2001, we were classmates at the University School of Law and at the University of Washington School of Law.
Q. Was this lawyer an effective advocate/counselor and why?
Yes

I have known many attorneys. Every attorney has a skill or set of skills. Few, however, have the personal and intellectual skills, as well as compassion and integrity, that Amy Welch has. She is the whole package and she loves what she does.

Q. Please rate this lawyer on the following:

Legal Knowledge: Excellent

Amy is very well-versed in estate planning and tax laws. I know because we studied them for years together side by side, day after day.

Legal Analysis: Excellent

Amy is an excellent legal writer and her mind always sees through the fog of side issues so as to arrive a clear answer.

Communication Skills: Excellent

Other than my wife, I don't know another person that is as well equipped to communicate with others as Amy Welch is. Additionally, her emotional intelligence is matched by her intellectual intelligence, which makes her convincing too. Add to that a fantastic sense of humor and there is no stopping her.

Ethics and Professionalism: Excellent

If it came to it, I would have no problem leaving Amy custody and charge of all of my minor children, my personal wealth as well as professional practice, just as I would my wife and law partner. My trust in her is so unquestionable, that I feel I could do so without any controlling terms of a trust or other guiding instrument. That said, I trust precious few people.

Q. For which practice area(s) would you recommend this lawyer?
Estate planning, high net worth planning, probate, and trust administration.
Q. Which of the following skills does this lawyer possess?
  • Business Advising
  • Client Relations
  • Collaboration
  • Document Review
  • Drafting
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Financial Literacy (handling client funds)
  • Legal Research
  • Legal Writing
  • Negotiation
  • Problem Solving
  • Pro Bono and Community Services
  • Project Management
  • Transactions

While Amy is not a mediator or negotiator (she is an estate planning attorney) her capacity to deal with different kinds of people in different situations is obvious to anyone that meets her.

I just can't recommend her highly enough.
Q. I would recommend this lawyer to my family and friends
