Attorney Steven R. Owens is a fourth generation Colorado native. He earned his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree with honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Attorney Owens received his Juris Doctorate degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin—Madison. While attending the University of Wisconsin, Attorney Owens was the articles editor of the Wisconsin Law Review. Stephen “Steve” Joseph Ryan was born in the Bronx, where his mother worked as a nurse and his father was an officer with the New York Police Department. In the early ’90s, Steve moved to Tallahassee, Florida to continue his studies at Florida State University’s College of Law, where he met fellow law student and his future law partner, Shawn Risen. In 1995, Steve graduated with honors and received a Juris Doctorate, and one year later, Steve and Shawn Risen established Risen & Ryan, Attorneys at Law.

I was born and raised in Marietta; a rural town on Oklahoma's side of the Red River. In 2005 I graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and in 2008 I graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

I started my career in the justice system as a police officer for 16 years. I move to the District Attorney's office after graduating from law school. I was team leader in the vehicular crimes division. In 2000 began my career in private practice. I am now a partner at May & Ryan, PLC we do litigation work mainly in the criminal defense arena with an added emphasis on DUI defense.
