Mr. Wegman attended Atlantic Christian College in 1979, and in 1981, he spent his summer training with the Marines in the Platoon Leaders Class Program at U.S. Marine Corps base Quantico, Virginia. He graduated from college in 1983. After teaching for 5 years, Mr. Wegman decided to change course completely by applying for Coast Guard Officer Candidate School.
