C. James Williams, III chose to pursue a career in law after completing undergraduate studies. He attended George Mason University School of Law and graduated in 1987. C James Williams, III passed the bar exam and was admitted to legal practice in 1987.

After obtaining his law degree (Seattle University) and serving for four years as an administrative law judge, Charles started his own law firm in Olympia and worked in a number of areas of law. Mr. Cochran has over 50 years of experience in patent law and is the founding member of Cochran Freund & Young LLC. After three years as a Patent Examiner in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, he worked as a patent agent/attorney for the Office of Naval Research for five years. He then spent six years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Senior Patent Attorney where he worked in a variety of technologies including computer technology, electro-quantum mechanics, cryogenic superconductivity, astrophysics, laser fusion, magnetic containment fusion, particle beam weapons, fuel cell technology and various laser systems and applications....

Prior to becoming an Attorney I served one term as the President of a local labor union with about 150 members. About 3 years later I assisted in negotiating a labor contract for the same Union. I have worked as an attorney for over 19 years in many different areas of the law.
