The mission of the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts of Massachusetts, a program of the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston, is to meet the legal needs of the state's arts communities. Since its inception in 1989, the VLA has expanded its legal services to include educational opportunities for artists, arts organizations, and attorneys in addition to its flagship lawyer referral program. The VLA also assists local arts and cultural institutions with recruiting enthusiastic attorneys to sit on their boards of directors.
