Centurion Ministries

Centurion is a secular nonprofit organization that has a very narrow criterion:
1. The inmate must be factually innocent and serving a life or death sentence.
2. Centurion mainly considers murder and rape convictions.
3. Centurion considers cases from all 50 states and Canada.

Rape cases must have physical evidence that can be scientifically tested. Centurion does not consider child-sex cases unless physical evidence is present.

For the cases to which Centurion commits, Centurion does the investigative work and hires the attorney to do the litigation work. Centurion pays for all investigative and litigation fees. Centurion raises all the funds needed to work on the cases; consequently, Centurion takes on only 1 to 2 new cases a year.

Inmates may petition Centurion for help by writing a 3-4 page letter outlining the basic facts of the case (no documents or transcripts). Centurion responds to all letters in approximately 8 weeks.
