In law school, Zach dedicated over 900 hours to providing pro bono legal services at the Community Legal Practice Center in Lexington, Virginia. There, he represented community members with limited financial resources, handling hearings and jury trials as a certified legal intern.

Zach graduated cum laude from Gettysburg College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Political Science. At Gettysburg, he was actively involved in the mock trial team and served as its president, along with being a teaching assistant. He earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2021.
