Working with Tracey Wood and the other talented staff at Tracey Wood & Associates as raised the bar on criminal defense.
Client Reviews
Benjamin K. September 24, 2024
Tracey Wood is the kind of defense counsel that defense counselors’ dream to become someday I retained Tracey Wood quite literally as she was launching her own firm. I was facing an OWI and several other charges including possession of THC & Paraphernalia, a criminal offense at the time. Now my recount of the events were not at all what the police reports stated, and every police report varied in the sequence of events and where those events took place. Tracey adeptly used these discrepancies to erode the assumption of truth and honesty that officers are often privileged to from the court. Her vast knowledge of precedent and medical conditions, as they relate to the charges, is second to none. She was able to have my BAC reading thrown out due to a medical condition that was treated prior to and after my arrest, but not during. Ultimately, she was able to have 6 out of 7 charges dismissed, and the 7th lowered to a municipal ordinance violation in the form of a citation rather than a criminal charge requiring an interlock ignition device. Ignorance of the law does not put one above the law, but ignorance in retaining quality counsel will certainly put one at the mercy of the law. No, Tracey Wood is not a budget attorney by any means, though she is unequivocally, worthy of every single penny she has ever made. She saved my career dreams of becoming a pilot. After this incident, I have never again even considered getting behind the wheel, or sleeping behind the wheel, after locking myself out of my house in the dead of winter. I have since made the mistake of hiring alternative counsel instead of Tracey Wood in unrelated criminal matters years later, for which I am still paying for in the form of lost housing and employment. Tracey Wood was the first attorney I had ever worked with and she set the bar unimaginably high. I have since retained counsel 3 times since then; no other attorneys have come close to provide the level of expertise, concern, and care that she had. Tracey made it clear she felt the same “fire” inside to fight for me that I felt to fight for myself and my future. If you are going to spend money on a criminal defense attorney, get your money’s worth and hire only Tracey Wood. You will only thank yourself for doing so for the rest of your life, as a former client, I promise you that is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Sympathy For The Defendant - An Interview

I’ve been doing this so long that most people know already. But I do remember people treating you slightly worse than the gum on the bottom of your shoe. I think over the years, though, people realize that this is the type of case where clients are not the dregs of society. I’ve represented judges, police officers, sports figures, actors. It covers all cross-sections of society, all income levels. This is the kind of thing that can happen to anybody.

Even a first-offense OWI is considered a serious infraction in the State of Wisconsin. As such, a first-offense conviction is riddled with costly consequences. If you are convicted, you face a license revocation of six to nine months, and a fine ranging from $150 to $300. If your blood alcohol content was above 0.15%, you will be required to have an ignition interlock device, or IID, installed in your vehicle, at your expense, for up to one year. If there was a minor under the age of 16 in the vehicle at the time of your arrest, you may be sentenced to a jail term of five to six months. You will also be responsible for a fine ranging from $350 to $1,100 and will be required to have an IID installed in your vehicle for 12 to 18 months. If your OWI resulted in an injury of another person, your fines will range from $300 to $25,000 and you can face up to 12.5 years in prison. If the OWI resulted in death, you will be responsible for a fine of up to $100,000 and may spend up to 25 years in prison. A first-offense OWI will permanently remain on your driving record. If you are facing a first-offense OWI, working with an experienced OWI defense attorney is one of the best things you can do to protect your rights.
