Worst Lawyer I have ever encountered Ted represented me in a Fedral drug case. He is a smart knowledgable attorney I will give him that but he payed no attention to my case because he was being paid threw the Fedral Defender. He made promises he never came threw on and rarely answered his office phone or returned calls. He left me sitting in jail for months when I could have gone to a program. He encouraged me to sign a 60 month plea saying it was the best I would get. I fired him and he set my case back months for doing so but in the end I was sentenced to 10-16 months. In the time I spent at Strafford County I met others who had Ted as their lawyer. Everyone had the same story, he doesn't call you back or answer your calls. He was more concerned with his appearance with the prosecutor than the outcome of your case. Zero stars for Ted because it best represents the zero effort he put into my case. View More

Theodore Lothstein's Response: Rules of Professional Conduct do not allow lawyers to respond to the merits of a review. But what I will say is that any lawyer will tell you - court appointed work is often a thankless job. It's human nature to think that if you get something for free, it must be worthless. But I place the highest value on doing court appointed work because for the criminal justice system to work at all, every accused must have access to skilled and experienced counsel. I am proud of the court appointed work that I do and will never waver in my responsibility to fight hard in those cases -- while also striving to improve the access to justice for all. - Ted
