At the age of 29, I had the rare opportunity to argue at the Supreme Court of the United States. In the case Thacker v. Tennessee Valley Authority, the Court ruled unanimously in our favor and delivered a 9-0 decision. This victory not only allowed my client to seek compensation for personal injuries but also set a precedent that will impact the tort liability of the Tennessee Valley Authority. This federally chartered corporation provides electricity to millions and operates in seven states. The ruling enhances the protection of citizens' lives and safety in these states and influences the suability of governmental entities engaged in commercial activities.
This case underscores my commitment to justice, demonstrating my belief that victims of personal injury and families affected by wrongful deaths deserve their day in court, regardless of the power and preparedness of the opposition. Through innovative and persistent efforts, I strive to empower ordinary individuals, ensuring their voices are heard.
I was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. After earning my law degree from The University of Alabama School of Law, I chose to return to my hometown.
