Susan Guthrie, recently named again by Lawyers of Distinction as one of the Top Family Law and Mediation Attorneys in the country, has been helping individuals and families navigate separation and divorce for almost 30 years. Susan and fellow top attorney, Rebecca Zung, are the Co-Founders of Breaking Free Mediation, the first family law mediation centers in the country to offer a mindfulness track to help divorcing parties to negotiate their issues peacefully. Susan is an online mediation expert and Breaking Free Mediation offers online mediation services nationwide. As a Divorce Innovation Specialist, Susan has created Divorce in a Better Way (www.divorceinabetterway.com) as a curated resource for those seeking the latest tips and advice in navigating the divorce process.
Susan is also the co-host, with Rebecca, of the iTunes Top 10 podcast, Breaking Free: A Modern Divorce Podcast, which is revolutionizing the conversation around divorce. The podcast has appeared several times in the iTunes Top Ten and was recently features in the “New & Noteworthy” listings. Podbean regularly features the show on it’s “Recommended” list. The show recently reached 800,000 listens in just under 8 months.
As a leading dispute resolution professional, Susan is proud to be the incoming Co-Chair of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of Dispute Resolution’s Mediation Committee, a Co-Chair of the Planning Committee for the ABA’s Advanced Mediation Skills Institute and an editor of the ABA e-magazine, “Just Resolutions”. In addition to her roles with the ABA, Susan is proud to serve on the Board of Directors of the Southern California Mediation Association (SCMA) and is the Co-Chair of the SCMA Communications/Membership Committee. Susan is regularly published in industry and divorce resources and presents several times a year at conferences and institutes around the country.
