Stephen P. Kauffman is a lawyer, CPA, and former IRS revenue agent who brings this knowledge to bear during his representation of individuals and businesses with a wide variety of Tax and Business Law matters.
Mr. Kauffman represents clients with serious federal and state tax problems including unfiled returns, substantial balances due, audits, criminal investigations, personal liability for delinquent payroll taxes (i.e. trust-fund recovery penalties) and sales and use taxes, foreign bank and financial accounts, foreign businesses, and litigation in the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, Court of Federal Claims, Courts of Appeals, US Supreme Court, and all Maryland and DC courts. He also has extensive experience representing businesses and business owners structure and negotiating large transactions, as well as litigating disputes between owners, or with third parties.
Mr. Kauffman has published several articles on tax and litigation matters in professional journals including TAXES—THE TAX MAGAZINE®, and the ABA Litigation Journal. He has also taught and lectured on tax and other topics at the Maryland Law School, Loyola University Maryland, The College of Notre Dame of Maryland, and Borra CPA Review.
