Sheila Merchant Legal is a boutique law firm, serving California specializing in business law, real estate law, and contract law with a special interest in working with socially conscious and sustainable businesses.

I’m a graduate of Columbia Law School and, prior to founding my private practice, I worked at two of the nation’s premier law firms —Akin Gump and Winston & Strawn —where I handled large scale, high-impact transactions, including billion-dollar utility-scale wind and solar energy projects.

Our firm specializes in corporate formation and structuring, real estate law, contract drafting and negotiation, for sale by owner (FSBO) real estate transactions and transfer deeds, partnership and operating agreements, franchise agreements and disclosure documents, mergers and acquisitions, trademark filings, corporate filings and maintenance .

We provide expert legal services throughout California, including the various neighborhoods of Los Angeles (Downtown LA, Marina del Rey, Playa Vista, Playa del Rey, Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Santa Monica, Westwood, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, Encino), San Francisco & Silicon Valley (San Jose, Santa Clara, Encino, Alameda, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Walnut Creek, Redwood City), and other main metro centers such as San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Sacramento.

  We offer a complimentary 15 minute consultation to all new clients. For most projects I bill an hourly rate of $375/hr. When appropriate, a flat fee contract may be negotiated.
