Samantha Sommerman
Sam started her career at the Cook County Public Defender’s Office in Chicago and moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2015 where she began working for the Snohomish County Public Defender Association. There, she quickly advanced from misdemeanor to felony attorney, also representing clients in appellate cases and involuntary treatment matters.
She is qualified under indigent defense standards to represent clients on homicides, Class A, B, and C felonies, in addition to sex offenses. She is also admitted to the federal bar, practicing in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.
Sam left public defense in 2019 and moved to the Mazzone Law Firm where she studied under her mentor, Pete Mazzone, for four years. At the Mazzone Law Firm, Sam won not-guilty verdicts on everything from domestic violence charges to sex offenses and homicide charges. She also compiled elaborate mitigation packages to negotiate lesser sentences for her clients. After nearly a decade working in criminal defense, it was time for Sam to start her own firm, which she opened in March 2023.
