Rodrigo is very reasonable and has a great courtroom demeanor. It is effective when interacting with the opposing counsel (as I was in a couple of cases against him), as well as with a judge and jury. He is also a great writer with a strong appellate background, which I witnessed while we worked together for several years in the Air Force JAG Corps' Appellate Defense Division. I originally interned for Rod in 2016 while he was an active-duty defense attorney with the United States Air Force. In this role, Rod was the lead defense attorney for servicemembers needing criminal representation. I worked alongside Rod for several months, assisting him in case preparation and legal research. In 2017, I entered active-duty and began to work as an attorney with Rod.

Rod was the lead defense attorney, and I was his intern. During these cases, I personally observed Rod interact with clients from initial consultation to case disposition.

Q. When did you work with this lawyer?
I interned for Rod in 2016 while he was the lead defense attorney at Andrews AFB, one of the largest and most important Air Force Base's in the country. I leaned heavily on Rod's experience in defense work and learned a great deal from shadowing him. Following the internship, I decided to follow in his path and become a defense attorney. I attribute my success as a defense attorney directly to my experience working with him.

Rod is an incredibly effective advocate. Both orally and in writing, he is unmatched. As a defense attorney at a heavily scrutinized and vital military base, I personally witnessed Rod make stellar legal arguments to a wide array of audiences.

Rod's legal knowledge is without a doubt his best quality. Rod is incredibly knowledgeable in multiple areas of federal, state, and military law. If there is a question of law that Rod is unfamiliar with, he makes it a personal mission to solve. During my professional experience with Rod, I constantly observed him engage in legal research and writing.

Legal Analysis: Excellent

Rod is excellent in analyzing law to a specific fact pattern. Rod understands how to understand and interpret voluminous case law into making cogent and articulate arguments. I distinctly remember relying on Rod's legal analysis to assist me in identifying client case deficiencies prior to trial.

Communication Skills: Excellent

What separates Rod from other attorneys is his ability to communicate with a wide group of people. I have known Rod for over 8 years and have seen him interact with a variety of clients. Rod's ability to communicate with clients from different walks of life cannot be overstated. Rod is an excellent communicator in the courtroom, too. Rod has an inherent knack at connecting with jurors - a skillset that is lost on many other attorneys.

Ethics and Professionalism: Excellent

Rod's professionalism to his clients and the ethical standard to which he holds himself is beyond reproach. For anyone who has ever worked with Rod, it is clear that he is a conscientious, fair, and principled attorney who will fight for clients until the very end. I cannot recommend him enough!
