Richard C. Price
The Price Law Firm
Some people facing divorce just want to work out a settlement that treats both sides, and the kids, respectfully, without wasting time and money fighting. Some people want to keep their personal business and finances private. Some people want to be the ones deciding how things are divided and what their relationship with the children will be like, rather than turning over the decision-making power to a Judge who doesn't know them or their circumstances. Many people know the stress of going to court is not worth the outcome. For those people, I recommend Collaborative Law.
With over 45 years experience, we have seen a wide variety of legal conflicts. We know the problems people experience as they deal with family law issues. Since almost every case will eventually settle without getting to a final trial, we focus on finding or creating solutions through negotiations. We strongly encourage using Collaborative Law in most cases, but sometimes it is inappropriate or the other attorney is not a Collaborative attorney. Then, we are prepared to work through the litigation approach, to the extent necessary. As a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law since 1984, I have a great deal of experience in resolving cases through Collaborative Law, mediation, negotiations and trials, when they can't be avoided.

Rates, Retainers and Additional Information
My fees are generally $400 per hour. We also have a retainer payment which is set based on the facts of the case and the expectations of what work is to be done. With Collaborative cases, retainers are usually $4,000.00. Each month, we bill against the retainer and the amount of the bill must be replenished to our trust account. Consultation Fees: We do charge for the initial consultation. We charge our usual hourly rate because the consultation is not a superficial meeting. We discuss the facts of the case, possible options and often recommend a course of action. We provide a lot of practical information at the consultations. Mediation fees are normally a flat fee per side, which is paid in advance. You can call our office to discuss what the cost might be in your case.
