Richard A. Molezzo

This lawyer was the most unqualified, lazy, two-faced, sorry excuse for an attorney I ever had! Pursuing my defense in Washoe District Court based on, at that time (2001) Public Defender, Dick Molezzo's advice, I was sentenced to two 8-20 year sentences. I wrote my own Writ of Habeas Corpus while at Nevada State Prison, was awarded a hearing, and the judge vacated both sentences. During the Appellate hearing, with Deputy D.A. McCarthy representing the state (Mr. McCarthy threw up his hands in defeat and requested a recess after about two questions into the cross-examination of a visually sweating Molezzo to confer with Ms. Karla Butko and I and find out what I wanted. When the, at this point trying not to laugh, judge resumed the hearing, Mr. McCarthy himself asked for the sentences to be vacated.) In a case of Possession of Forged Instruments, Mr. Molezzo had not consulted meaningfully with the defendant, me, any of my family or friends, nor with police detectives, nor the "victim", nor the bank, nor even the psyche/drug evaluator. And they were all in court that day to testify to that fact. The lead detective on the case actually had wondered what had become of me! In the end, I still served six years and nine months fighting my way out of the mess he caused. He was at this time "Peter Principled" upward, and was working in the Attorney General's office.
