Paula Mallory Engel
Ms. Engel has been an attorney licensed to practice in New York State for 25 years. She is currently the Chief Welfare Attorney for the Onondaga County Department of Law. In her latest position, she is responsible for management of staff and contract attorneys, providing legal representation to the County for the Temporary Assistance, Medicaid, Child Support Enforcement, Fraud, Children’s Services, Adult Protective Services, Office of the Aging and Long Term Care programs. She is the civil rights (ADA, LEP, Title VI) and HIPAA compliance counsel for the County of Onondaga.
Before joining Onondaga County, Ms. Engel maintained a private practice, assisting the Oneida Indian Nation with the administration of its criminal, civil and tort judicial systems. She also represents private clients in various commercial matters, including compliance issues, litigation and collections. She has taught Business Law as an Adjunct Professor at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York, and has served on the Town of Dewitt Zoning Board of Appeals. In 2010, she received a certification as a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP).
